How To Store Your avid organic Produce
PRODUCE |
STORAGE |
Apples |
To prevent over ripening, keep organic apples for up to one month in plastic bags in the refrigerator. Storing organic apples at room temperature hinders crispness. Check stored apples daily, as one rotting apple causes others to decay. |
Avocados |
Store and eat at room temperature. Refrigerate after ripening. |
Bananas |
Store and eat at room temperature. Can be refrigerated after ripening. To speed up the ripening of bananas, place them in a paper bag with an apple, in a dark place. |
Berries |
Keep covered in the refrigerator. Do not wash until you need to use them - too much moisture will speed spoilage. Use within two to three days. |
Cherries |
Store as above |

About your box
Vegetables
Our Standard and Variety Vegetable Boxes contain British produce only. avid constantly strives to supply vegetables from local farmers. As a last resort, on rare occasions when supply is at a critically low level, (resulting from storms, floods etc) we may have no option but to look further a field for produce. Our promise is that this is kept to an absolute minimum and within the European boundaries. We do not use air freighted produce in our picked vegetable boxes.
The policy of avid is to promote seasonal consumption, to support the British Organic Food Industry and to reduce harmful environmental damage through excess ‘food miles’. We recognise that customers have diverse needs and may wish to purchase vegetables not grown year round in this country. Our European vegetable box contains produce not available in the UK sourced from neighbouring countries, within the European boundaries. It does not contain air freighted produce. We will never supply vegetables from abroad when they are available in this country.
avid offers customers the opportunity to pick their own vegetables. By clearly displaying the country of origin, we enable customers to make informed choices prior to purchase.
Fruit
As British weather fails to supply us with bountiful year-round fruit, avid cannot follow a seasonal policy with our fruit boxes. Instead, we carefully pick produce from countries nearest to the Uk and are mindful to choose fairly traded fruit where possible.avid will never supply fruit from abroad when it is available in this country. avid offers customers the opportunity to pick their own fruit. By clearly displaying the country of origin, we enable customers to make informed choices prior to purchase.
avid Produce Size Policy
Where produce items are priced per weight, avid will endeavour to meet the expected weight as accurately as possible.
avid Substitution Policy
Should ordered dried produce be unavailable, avid will endeavour to substitute a similar item of equal value. For example when one brand of tomato puree is unavailable, avid will replace it with another.
avid guarantees to never replace an organic item with a non organic item.
If you do not require substitutions please notify us at the MY PREFERENCES section of Your Account.
If you are unhappy with any substitutions made, you must notify avid within 24hrs of delivery and retain the item for credit refunds. Failure to notify within the given time limit will result in non refunds.
